• ECOOP'98 is over, and we (the organisers) have recuperated from the hard work. We added a link to Andrew P. Black's Banquet Speech, and slightly updated the home page to state that the conference is over...

• The Demonstration Chair cannot be present at the conference. Jan Dockx will handle all practical matters at the conference. He can be reached at Jan.Dockx@cs.kuleuven.ac.be.
• We added a link to ECOOP'99.
• We have added files for download with detailed information on reaching your hotel and the conference site by car (see travel connections), and on reaching your hotel by public transportation in case you arrive in Brussels by train or by airplane (see transportation in Brussels).

• The Final Programme is now on the web site, including room numbers.
• Workshop W16 has been joined with workshop W17.

We made a lot of changes today to get the final programme on the web site:

• Workshop W16 has been cancelled.
• Workshop W19 has changed from a two-day workshop to a one-day workshop on Tuesday.
• Farewell drinks on Friday are scheduled until 19:00, instead of 19:30.
• We have added the demonstrations.
• We have added the posters.
• Delaware Computing decided to exhibit at ECOOP'98.
• KISS and Rational Software Corporation decided to give commercial presentations at the exhibition.

The names of the Session Chairs are now added to the Technical Programme. We also have updated the Exhibitors Pages by dividing them into companies and publishers, and added two new publishers: dpunkt and Springer-Verlag.

Addison Wesley Longman Publishers BV decided to exhibit on ECOOP'98.

We also added downloadable ads for some of the other exhibitors.

There was a small error on the webpages and in the Ecoop'98 Advance Program & Call for Participation (page 58) about the prices for the partner's program (package 1 and package 2): they got switched. The registration webpage now lists the correct prices. For persons who registered with the "old" prices, the following will apply:

• for persons who registered for both there is of course no difference, since the prices were just switched.
• for persons who only registered for package 1 (at the price of 3,200) there will be no charge (we will take care of the difference)
• persons who only registered for package 2 (at the price of 3,500 BEF) will receive 300 BEF (the difference with the current price) on the post-conference tour

The conference registration forms and the hotel reservation forms were updated to solve problems on some machines. We also added HTML-versions of the registration forms.

The Panel's page was updated. Not only was the abstract of the first panel ("Multiple Paradigms under One Roof") added, the position statements for the members of the second panel("As Simple as Possible, but no Simpler" ­ Ruminations on Software Engineering Practices, Methods, and Human Concerns) are now also available here.

We welcome a new exhibitor: Rational Software Corporation.

Note that the Hotel Reservation Form that was sent with the Ecoop'98 Advance Program & Call for Participation states an incorrect price for Hotel Atlas. The correct price - as mentioned in the booklet itself (page 53), the accomodation web-page, and the downloadable registration forms - is 2500 BEF (single) and 2750 BEF(double).

Workshop 6, originally scheduled monday july 20th, was moved to friday July 24th. Note that the Advance Program booklet contains an error: the entry on monday for workshop 6 should be empty. You can check the correct version at http://ecoop98.vub.ac.be/workshops.html
