12th European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming
Brussels, Belgium, July 20 - 24, 1998

Guidelines for Demonstration Proposals

Live demonstrations of all kinds of new object-oriented software will be presented at the conference, as at previous ECOOPs. Proposals are solicited for both commercial and in-house systems, as well as academic and corporate research. Demonstrations will be selected on the basis of technical merit, novelty and relevance to object-oriented technology. Each demonstration is expected to be given by (a) technical member(s) of the implementation team. Product marketing or sales presentations are inappropriate for this forum; the exhibition is available for such purposes.

Accepted demonstrations will be listed in the Posters, Demonstrations and Exhibits Program, which will be distributed to all ECOOP delegates. It is planned that there could be one set of demonstration sessions on Monday and/or Tuesday (tutorial and workshop days), and another set during the technical program (Wednesday to Friday). Proposers should indicate whether they would like to give their demonstration in the former or latter part, or possibly twice. We would prefer the presenters to participate in the conference also.

The proposal should contain at least the following

The name(s) of the presenter(s) can be communicated later.

Proposals should be submitted to

Deadlines

No deadline for submitting demonstration proposals has been set up yet, but we are prepared to handle submissions until rather shortly before the conference. If all reasonable demonstrations cannot be accepted for time reasons, early proposals will be favored over late ones.

Equipment

The organizers will try to provide standard computer and projector equipment for demonstrations. However, we cannot guarantee that all equipment requests can be fulfilled, or that we need not charge for the involved costs. It is recommended that presenters bring their own computers and special devices if possible.
